Bringing Brooklyn’s Oldest Community Bank Into The Digital Age

Concord FCU is a non-profit financial cooperative built out of a need for social and economic justice for residence of the Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn area. Founded by community leader, reverend and activist, Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, Concord FCU offers its members high-quality financial services—investing in low income and underserved communities. Working alongside designer Nathan Braceros, in collaboration with Concord’s in-house marketing team, I led the rebrand for CFCU, via digital marketing agency BLACKOWNED.

Transforming Through Purpose

In collaboration with the Concord FCU team, we created an ecosystem of visual assets, which included a bold brand mark and collection of slogan lockups, connecting the imagery of social movements, past and present.

Redefining Worth for the Next Generation

The challenge was to find a way to create a timeless brand language and identity, while leveraging the core values and aspirations of millennial members. We chose a visual style centered around resistance; signaling a reinvigorated brand with deep roots within the community it serves.

Delivering an Authentic Digital Presence

In order to deliver an authentic experience, we needed to streamline brand language and digital processes. I designed a new website and social strategy to relaunch Concord’s new offerings, while working with the onsite team to digitize their member registration process. Concord CFU is now poised to support and champion underserved communities on digital platforms.
